How to Follow the Butterflies

Things One Can Surmise From This Photo: I am a boy, I have facial hair, I appear to be right-handed, I appear to be literate, I'm okay with wearing shorts, and I am very intent on the tasks that I have been given. Really good people might be able to guess that I'm a Summer.

Life is Learning...

In many ways, "following the butterflies" is what I intend to do with my life. While this may suggest fanciful frolics through a meadow, what I mean through the use of this phrase is that I want my life to be full of joy. The idea that "life is like learning how to follow" them reflects on the fact that butterflies are beautiful, yet quick and unpredictable creatures. If I can learn to follow the butterflies, then I think my life is guaranteed to be full of adventure!

And the indefatigable cornucopia of love? Well, that's hard to explain...

Now that you have learned a little bit more about eucalyptuses and the novel by Australian Murray Bail, I invite you to kick back your feet for awhile, loosen that tie of yours, and learn a little bit more about me...

Some of my interests include early and modern British literature, including the Harry Potter phenomenon, which I plan to explore in my Honors Thesis. I have also been active at Greenville as a Resident Chaplain, or what is known as a Resident Assistant at a secular institution. This has been an important part of my development as an "emerging adult" and I am grateful for the opportunities it has afforded me.

I am also interested in photography and watching movies, although I have not seen many movies that most consider classics.

As you may have already guessed from my homepage, I am a student at Greenville College in Southern Illinois. At the moment, I am finishing my Junior year as an English Education major, so next year I will complete Senior projects, including an Honors Thesis and Student Teaching. I have been a Christian for eight years, and my faith influences many of my decisions in life. For instance, I decided to come to Greenville due to its affiliation with the Free Methodist denomination and its adherence to a codified "Lifestyle Statement" students must sign in order to attend the school. And, of course, I originally heard of the school through the Christian band, Jars of Clay, who once attended this private, four-year, liberal arts school.

While there is plenty more I can say, I think an explanation of my page name will suffice as a summary. In the Harry Potter series, the titular character has a best friend named Ron Weasley, who I identify with on many levels. We're both afraid of spiders, for instance; in one of the books, Hagrid, the caretaker of Hogwarts, the boarding school that wizards and witches attend to learn magic, tells Harry and Ron to follow a path of spiders into the Forbidden Forest in order to learn more about the strange occurences at the school. In a moment of frightened thinking, Ron says, "Why couldn't it have been, "Follow the butterflies?"

Spontaneity is sometimes a quality of mine, and it results in embarassing pictures later.
